BRDC plans to get go ahead
The men behind the plans to restructure Silverstone's ownership constitution believe their ideas will become reality by autumn.
Board members of the BRDC, which owns Silverstone, are revising the plans before a second ballot on the subject is taken.
This will be held later this month, and if the plan is accepted, it could be put into action by September.
In the first BRDC members' vote two weeks ago, 66 per cent voted in favour of the plans. The BRDC needs a minimum of 75 per cent if it wants to change its constitution.
BRDC president Lord Hesketh wrote to the members last week, saying, 'The board believes that a majority of members would support some form of restructuring. A revised proposal has a good prospect of achieving the necessary 75 per cent.'
The restructuring plan has been drawn up to defend the circuit from takeover bids like the one put together by Brands Hatch Leisure boss Nicola Foulston.
Silverstone's chief executive Denys Rohan said: "The 34 per cent who voted no don't want to sell the circuit. They just want to lock it up in a different way."
