Speed wins again in ARCA
Former Scuderia Toro Rosso racer Scott Speed won his third ARCA RE/MAX series race of the season on Saturday at the 0.43-mile Berlin Raceway
Following his second win of the season last week at Kentucky Speedway, the Californian started the Berlin ARCA RE/MAX 200 from the outside of the third row of the grid and put himself in contention for victory following his second pit stop, as some of his closest rivals pitted only once.
The 25-year-old made the most of his strategy to take the lead on lap 153 of 200, holding to it all the way to the chequered flag, followed by polesitter Justin Allgaier and nine-time ARCA champion Frank Kimmel.
"It was an epic battle," said Speed. "This track is like nothing I've ever raced on. It's actually a lot of fun and quite challenging to drive.
"I had a great time out there tonight. I really feel good for the guys on this team who worked so hard to give me the perfect car. They certainly met the challenge tonight."
Speed's success allows him to close on championship leader Ricky Stenhouse Jr, who is now only 55 points ahead.
The Red Bull driver's victory from Saturday is the fourth for him this year as he also claimed his maiden NASCAR win in May in the Craftsman Truck series event at Dover International Speedway.
