Schrader draws Bud Shootout pole

Veteran racer Ken Schrader will start on pole position for today's Budweiser Shootout, after pulling the position in a random draw

Schrader, facing his first race in his new Wood Brothers car, will start alongside 2005 Bud Shootout winner Jimmie Johnson after the Chevrolet driver pulled the outside pole.

Reigning Nextel Cup champion Tony Stewart will start alongside Joe Nemechek on the second row.

The non-championship race, open for 2005 pole sitters and previous Budweiser shootout champions, is divided into two segments.

A 20-lap segment is run before the race is stopped for a ten-minute break, where teams are allowed to work on their cars.

After that, the final 50-lap segment gets underway, to decide the victory for the first race of the new NASCAR season.

Weather could play a factor this year, however, with thunderstorms currently forecast for much of Florida.

If the race is postponed because of rain, then it will be rescheduled for tomorrow.
