Kenseth extends Roush deal
Former NASCAR Nextel Cup champion Matt Kenseth has committed his future to Roush Racing, singing a 'multi-year' extension to his current contract
Kenseth has been with the team since 1999 and his current deal would have expired at the end of this season. With the new deal he will continue to drive the No. 17 Ford Fusion for the foreseeable future.
In addition to the 2003 championship, Kenseth and Roush Racing have scored 10 victories, three poles, and 51 top five finishes.
"We are very pleased that Matt extended his contract with Roush Racing," said Jack Roush, owner of Roush Racing.
"Matt is one of the most talented drivers in the garage and he'll always hold a special place in our organization, having helped to bring us our first Cup championship in 2003. It's very assuring knowing that he will be staying on with us and I know that the first goal on his agenda is to take that championship trophy back."
When Mark Martin retires at the end of this season, Kenseth will be the longest serving member of the five-car Roush squad.
