Roush Fenway announce reshuffle

Roush Fenway Racing have announced that Matt Kenseth's crew chief Robbie Reiser has been appointed as their Nextel Cup Operations General Manager

Reiser will replace Max Jones in his new role, moving up in the team he joined in 1999 as Kenseth's crew chief. He had hired Kenseth as his driver in the Busch Grand National in 1997 after he retired from driving, and went on to clinch the Nextel Cup title with him under the Roush banner in 2003.

"This is a great opportunity for me and I'm looking forward to the next phase of my racing career," Reiser said. "If it's anywhere near as fun, competitive, and successful as the previous phase, then we're going to be in good shape.

"It wasn't an easy decision to stop being the crew chief of the No. 17 team, but now I get to work with all of our Cup teams and help improve our performance as a whole. I'm looking forward to the new challenge."

Max Jones, the team's former General Manager has moved to take the same role at the restructuring Yates Racing, where he has also become co-owner of the team. Yates Racing is set to have Roush Fenway-built cars and engines next season.

"Max did a great job and we wish him well in his new role." said Roush Fenway Racing's co-owner Jack Roush. "We are fortunate to have an experienced and talented replacement in Robbie Reiser.

"He's a proven winner and I'm confident that he'll continue to keep Roush Fenway Racing at the fore front of the industry."

A new crew chief has yet to be named for Matt Kenseth's team.
