Menard takes maiden Milwaukee win

Paul Menard took his maiden Busch win as he took victory in last night's AT&T 250 at The Milwaukee Mile

Menard held on despite a series of late cautions, including one trigerred when Kevin Harvick got Menard sideways after a restart, Harvick having to back off to avoid further contact with Menard, which saw JJ Yeley unable to avoid making contact with Harvick.

Harvick was sent spinning as cars went everywhere, his second place finish eventually becoming a nineteenth place finish instead.

Instead second place went to Denny Hamlin, who started at the rear as he, along with a couple of other drivers, had flown across the country from this weekend's Nextel Cup race in California to race at Milwaukee.

Despite this, he was leading the race within 80 laps and looked set for a strong result before getting caught out when mid-race leader Jason Leffler spun while trying to enter the pits, Hamlin falling nearly a lap off the pace.

But cautions and a fast car saw Hamlin climb back to second place, ahead of JJ Yeley, Jason Leffler and Mike Wallace.

Despite Harvick's poor finish he still holds a comfortable 344 point lead, although Hamlin's second place in the race moved him up into second in the championship ahead of Carl Edwards, who finished the race in 21st after he was one of the drivers caught up in Harvick's crash.
