Mayfield upbeat about Toyota
Jeremy Mayfield believes that Toyota will make a strong impression in their first season of Nextel Cup racing this year
The 37-year-old had his worst year of Cup racing as he was dropped mid-season by Evernham Motorsports last year, but he will return to full-time action with Bill Davis Racing in a Toyota Camry.
"Every time we've gone testing we've been good," said Mayfield, "and that makes my confidence get back up to where it needs to be."
Mayfield was a contender in the Chase for the Cup in 2004 and 2005, and he believes that he can be competitive again with Toyota.
"I don't know how we can not run good, not be noticed and right off the bat be a contender to win races and run up front," he said.
"I won't be devastated if we are not at the front, because we are going through a building process, but I'll be very surprised.
"When I came over here I wondered how we were going to get from point A to point B in such a short amount of time, and every question I've had has been answered."
