Martin wants fewer races in 2008
NASCAR veteran Mark Martin says he is not willing to include more races in his 2008 Nextel Cup programme and will likely drop the number down from the 24 he initially planned for this year
Martin has competed in nine out of the twelve races of the season thus far for Ginn Racing, and he actually led the point standings since California and until he stepped out of the No. 1 US Army Chevrolet for the first time at Bristol.
"I guess I'm gonna do roughly the same schedule with the same group, that's out plan," said Martin at Dover on Thursday.
"I'm just gonna learn from 2007, look to 2008 and either do the same number of races or maybe a little bit more like what I had planned originally, which is more like 20 points-races instead of 24.
"I love what I'm doing and I really love this team and I really look forward to going to work everyday with them," the 48-year-old added.
"I won't add from this year's schedule. I'll either do the same or a small number less. I'm looking forward to it."
Martin is set to compete in another 15 events for Ginn Racing after this weekend's race at Dover. He is also scheduled to race in three NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races and two Busch Series rounds for Hendrick Motorsports.
