Harvick holds on in Phoenix

However, for much of the middle part of the race Jason Leffler look set for victory, leading the most laps of the race, before Kurt Busch took over thanks to some slick work in the pits during a caution period.

Then, with less than 50 laps to go, Harvick was among a group of six drivers who chose not to pit and took over the lead.

Those who pitted slowly made their way towards the front, but even with a series of late-race cautions and a green-white-checker finish, Harvick was untouchable and took the win.

Reed Sorenson had another strong race to finish second, with Carl Edwards in third ahead of Kurt Busch and Mark Martin.

After leading for a long time, Leffler continued to run up front until a crash in the closing laps, finishing 21st.
