Kyle Busch on Phoenix pole
Kyle Busch has taken pole position for Saturday's Subway Fresh 500 at Phoenix International Raceway
Chevrolet driver Busch, winner at the same venue in November last year, edged out Greg Biffle's Ford and reigning series champion Tony Stewart's Chevrolet, the top three covered by less than a tenth of a second.
The top five is rounded out by a couple of Biffle's Roush teammates, Matt Kenseth, who is second in points, and Carl Edwards.
Points leader Jimmie Johnson, teammate to pole sitter Busch, will start the race from tenth position, while Kasey Kahne, who won the previous round at Texas and is third in points, will start mid-pack in 22nd.
