Earnhardt not concerned by position
Dale Earnhardt Jr has said that he is not too worried about losing the critical 12th position in the Nextel Cup standings to Kurt Busch last weekend
Earnhardt Jr finished second to Busch at Pocono, which dropped him out of the final Chase position with just five races remaining until the top 12 drivers have their points reset for the final 10 events.
"I'm not too worried about it," said Earnhardt. "The cream is going to rise to the top.
"We are way better than 13th, but we've had bad luck, we cheated and got caught. Those types of things are going to hurt you."
The DEI driver also admitted that he was delighted to finish second last weekend, where he battled an ill-handling car for most of the race.
"We were looking pretty bad there at one point, so I felt like I won," he added.
"If I didn't run second I'd be worse and lose more points to Kurt. We've got to feel pretty lucky to have stayed that close to him."
Earnhardt Jr is just seven points behind Busch in the standings.
