Busch won't do full Nationwide season

Kyle Busch will not compete at the Milwaukee Mile on Saturday, missing a Nationwide Series event for the first time this season and giving up on his attempt of running the full schedule of the second-tier series

The Sprint Cup Series points leader raced two weeks ago at Nashville but was not in contention for victory and then last weekend at Kentucky he spun out of the race while running second behind his rookie teammate Joey Logano.

Both times, Busch had to fly over from other tracks where he had Sprint Cup Series commitments, something he would have to do again this weekend if he was to race at Milwaukee in the Nationwide Series while being at Sonoma for the Cup event.

Despite not running the full schedule anymore, Busch is still expected to run a good number of Nationwide Series races this season, although he says his main focus is on defending his Sprint Cup Series lead.

"There's three other teams that are dependent on me, the 51 on the trucks to bring home a championship for those guys, as well as the 18 and the 32 teams in the Nationwide are looking for me to bring home wins for them," Busch said.

"There's a lot of guys who want me to drive their stuff and that's really flattering and pleasing for me because I love racing as much as I am but still the main focus needs to be on the Cup effort."

Busch has not ruled out racing at two different tracks on the same weekend again while competing in two or three different series but he says he is still reviewing the schedules to decide whether he attempts to do it or not.

"I wouldn't mind trying it again," Busch said. "If there's a way that we can make the Memphis truck race after the Nationwide race in Loudon we might try that. There's a lot of stuff still that we're trying to plan here and see what the time changes and stuff are going to be like."

Busch has won four races in the Nationwide Series this year and currently runs fifth in the championship, 243 points behind leader Clint Bowyer.
