Busch disappointment for Tracy

Champ Car World Series star Paul Tracy's second NASCAR Busch race ended in a frustrating premature retirement in Mexico City

The Canadian had started well, rapidly surging through from his disappointing 23rd position on the grid to reach the top ten by lap seven. He was running on the tail of the podium group and may have been in contention once the final pit stop sequence had fully played out. But by that time, his Biagi Brothers Dodge was stranded in the garage having sustained terminal collision damage on one of the many restarts in the yellow flag blighted event.

"We got down to the first corner and everyone just backed up and stood on the brakes," Tracy said. "I just went into the back of (Adrian) Fernandez. The radiator pushed back into an oil line and cut it.

"It's sad end to the day. We probably could have ended up in the top ten, but we had a little bit of bad luck."

Tracy's Mexican trip was not entirely unsuccessful, as he came through from 14th on the grid to take third in Saturday's Grand-Am race, co-driving a Fusion/Mike Shank Racing Lexus-Riley with Mike Borkowski.
