Burton was two-thousandths of a second faster than teammate Bowyer to take pole position for the four hundred mile race at the famous 'Brickyard'.

Kurt Busch was just seven-thousandths slower than Burton as he set the third best time, but will start at the rear of the after a blown tyre in 'Happy Hour' meant he will start the race in a backup car.
