Flying Lizard retains champion pair
American Le Mans Series GT2 champion squad Flying Lizard Motorsport has announced it will continue with a two-car Porsche team for 2010 and will retain title-winning drivers Jorg Bergmeister and Patrick Long
Despite some speculation that Flying Lizard would be cutting back to a single car next season, the squad will field two new Porsches. Darren Law will become team boss Seth Neiman's full-time team-mate in the second car alongside Porsche factory duo Long and Bergmeister.
Flying Lizard has beaten Risi Ferrari to the GT2 title for the past two years, but expects to face even tougher competition in the new combined GT class in 2010 as BMW and Corvette's new programmes gather strength.
"Next year, the GT field will be extremely tough," said Neiman. "Our goal is to win the championship again. To do that, we have to improve our performance at the very long races.
"We must go into every race weekend knowing that our competitors do something important better than we do. We need to find out what that is, learn from them, and then try to do it better.
"We've won two championships in a row and the target is on our back. I expect that pressure will drive us to an even greater focus and intensity in 2010."
