Tracy staying loyal to Champ Car
Former champion Paul Tracy has ruled out a switch to NASCAR and pledged his commitment to the Champ Car World Series
The Canadian took part in six NASCAR Busch Series races during 2006, but has decided not to continue with any sort of stock car campaign next year.
"I have enjoyed my experiences in NASCAR, but Champ Car is where my heart is," said the 2003 champion.
"Champ Car is where I come from and it's what has put me where I am today."
Tracy's teammate for the majority of 2006, AJ Allmendinger, recently confirmed a full-time switch to NASCAR for 2007, and has been dropped by Forsythe for the Champ Car finale in Mexico.
Tracy added: "I have a great relationship with Gerry Forsythe and I am committed to returning in 2007 and doing whatever I can to give the team another championship.
"I wish the best for AJ in NASCAR, however I am committed to continuing my career in Champ Car and building the series in order that it will get both the national and global attention it deserves."
Tracy has won 30 Champ Car races in his 15-year career, but the 37-year-old has not added to his tally during a difficult 2006 season.
