Audi Takes 1-2 Win at Sebring
Audi have taken a dominant 1-2 in the 12 Hours of Sebring after leading the race from start to finish
JJ Lehto, Marco Werner and Tom Kristensen took the win in their Champion Racing Audi R8 just 6.365 seconds clear of teammates Frank Biela, Emanuele Pirro and Allan McNish in the sister R8. The two cars were dominant throughout the race, with third place finishers James Weaver, Butch Leitzinger and Andy Wallace in the Dyson Racing Lola EX257 AER finishing 20 laps down.
The GT1 class was won by the David Brabham, Darren Turner and Stephane Ortelli Aston Martin Racing DBR9 which finished just three laps behind the Dyson Racing Lola in fourth place. They just held off the fifth placed Chevrolet Corvette C6-R of Johnny O'Connell, Ron Fellows and Max Papis, finishing one lap behind the DBR9, with the sister Corvette sixth, fourteen laps further back. The Maserati finished in ninth place driven by Andrea Bertolini, Fabio Babini and Fabrizio De Simone, 25 laps behind the class-winning Aston Martin.
Ian James, Chris McMurry and Jeff Bucknum took the P2 class in their Courage C-65 AER, 50 laps down on the winning Audi, though they were over 70 laps clear of the next competitor in their class. Meanwhile GT2 was won by Jorg Bergmeister, Lucas Luhr and Patrick Long in the White Lightning Porsche 911 GT3 RSR in seventh outright, seven laps clear of their closest challenger.
