Last year, the inaugural GP2 season offered some of the best racing of the year worldwide, with several new stars emerging from the series. With the top three in the championship making a successful entry to Formula One - including a sensational debut for Nico Rosberg - the second season is only likely to draw more attention from fans and raise the stakes for the drivers and teams. This time last year no one really knew what to expect - GP2 was a new concept, sure, but it was replacing the increasingly creaking Formula 3000, a series whose best years had been and gone, leaving little more than a shell of what it once was. And while the GP2 line up was impressive on paper, more than a few people wondered if a feeder series for Formula One was even viable anymore.
And then the races began, and the doubts evaporated in the minds of everyone who watched them.
