GP2 Series Top Ten

Autosport.com gives its verdict on the top ten drivers in this year's GP2 Series

1. Lucas di Grassi

Was brilliant once he turned up, nearly a third of the way through. He didn't throw away points like the two title rivals and would surely have won if he'd done the full year.

2. Giorgio Pantano

His season wasn't without its flaws, but he still showed that he has the ability for another shot at F1. Probably needed to win it more emphatically to get another shot, though.

3. Bruno Senna

This season was his coming out party as a complete racing driver, or at least it would have been if there weren't a few too many errors. Still, without just some of the bad luck he could easily have won the title.

4. Romain Grosjean

Came into the season on the crest of the GP2 Asia wave and found things a little harder going in Europe. His speed isn't in question, but he'd have played a much bigger part in the title race if he'd driven more sensibly at times.

5. Sebastien Buemi

One of those classic understated seasons that looks a lot better in hindsight that it seemed at the time. He didn't do a lot wrong, he was always in the hunt, and snatched a couple of wins when they were on the table.

6. Pastor Maldonado

Typically hit and miss. Almost untouchable at Monaco and won at Spa to prove he can do it on the proper circuits, too. But too often struggled to extract anything like the same pace from the car.

7. Alvaro Parente

Shot out of the blocks with victory in race one and is clearly a talent worth pursuing, but was restricted to the fringes for too long.

8. Andi Zuber

Another who looked very good from the start but never really materialised. Couldn't get it together for a win and had a horrible last third of the season.

9. Karun Chandhok

Became a genuine front runner this year, but really struggled to get the car home in sprint races - except for that win at Hockenheim of course.

10. Vitaly Petrov

More consistent than last year and much more regularly in the top six, but couldn't get it together for a win, other than when Pantano ran out of fuel at Valencia.
