West could ride Kawasaki at Donington

Australian Anthony West could return to MotoGP with Kawasaki at Donington Park this weekend if regular rider Olivier Jacque is stood down following his two serious crashes in recent Grands Prix

KRT are to make a decision about Jacque's fitness and his future role at the team before the British GP, autosport.com has learnt.

The Frenchman missed the Shanghai and Le Mans races after injuring his arm in a practice crash in China, then had to sit out the Catalunya GP following another accident.

West deputised for Jacque in the post-Barcelona test so already has experience of Kawasaki's MotoGP bike.

The 250cc regular has put himself into the limelight this season with two wins in the World Super Sport 600 series, firstly at a wet Silverstone, then in the dry at Misano. The latter enhanced West's reputation as he had previously been regarded as a wet weather specialist. Rain is currently expected during the Donington weekend.

If Jacque is stood down, he is likely to return to testing duties for Kawasaki as regular test rider Naoki Matsudo remains out of action after breaking his pelvis in a heavy pre-season testing accident at Autopolis.
