Vermeulen tops Misano warm-up

Chris Vermeulen finished at the top of the timesheets in this morning's warm-up at Misano, ahead of this afternoon's San Marino MotoGP

The Australian Rizla Suzuki rider set a best lap 1:34.880, 11 thousandths of a second faster than Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa.

Third fastest was Frenchman Randy de Puniet, who with his Kawasaki stopped the clock with a time 0.124 seconds slower than Vermeulen.

John Hopkins, on the other works Suzuki, was fourth fastest, ahead of pole-position man Casey Stoner on Marlboro Ducati, and second-placed on the grid Valentino Rossi on Fiat Yamaha.

Reigning world champion Nicky Hayden was seventh with his Repsol Honda, followed by Honda LCR's Carlos Checa, Kawasaki's Anthony West, and Honda Gresini's Marco Melandri rounding up the top ten.

Stoner and Rossi's teammates Loris Capirossi and Colin Edwards ended the session in 11th and 12th place respectively.
