Le Mans gets new MotoGP deal to host French GP
MotoGP will visit Le Mans every year until 2031
Le Mans is set to host MotoGP’s French Grand Prix until 2031 at the earliest, after a multi-year extension was signed with Dorna Sports.
The French GP has taken place at Le Mans Circuit Bugatti on 11 occasions from 1969 to 1995, then every season since 2000.
“Our contract as promoter ends in 2026 […] but I’m extremely pleased, honoured and proud to announce that it has been extended until 2031,” said promoter Claude Michy on Wednesday at an event previewing the 2025 race.
Pierre Fillon, president of Automobile Club de l’Ouest – which oversees all competitions at the Le Mans circuit – added: “I’m delighted to announce we re-signed until 2031.”
Michy also paid tribute to Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta, “a great gentleman who made MotoGP what it is today – an exceptional show”.
The French GP has been beating attendance records for years, boosted by local riders Fabio Quartararo and Johann Zarco. In 2024, no fewer than 297,471 spectators attended the event with all three days combined, including 119,145 on Sunday. Both figures are unmatched in MotoGP’s modern era.
The 2025 French GP will take place, as usual, in the spring – on 9-11 May.
