Rossi wants riders' input on tyre rules

Valentino Rossi has urged MotoGP organisers to take advice from the riders before deciding upon the final regulations regarding the control tyre next season

There will be a meeting between the riders and series bosses today to discuss the issues, and the Italian says it's important that they take on board the thoughts of the riders.

"I hope they speak with us and want to understand our point of view as the riders, and ask our advice," said Rossi. "Usually they hear us and if we have some good ideas, they take care of us.

"We have to understand the situation. They have to do one tyre that works for all the manufacturers. To do this, I think the tyre has to have less performance. I think it's impossible to make one tyre that is perfect for all the bikes, but I think they can make one tyre that is good for all the bikes."

The issues to be discussed include the number of tyres available over a race weekend, and the number of different compounds brought to each event.

"The riders are quite important and are part of the decision so I think we have to agree with the number of tyres," added Rossi. "If they make seven types of tyre for one year, the proposal is to bring two of the types to every race."
