Pedrosa says traffic cost him time

Dani Pedrosa reckoned he could have taken pole position for the British Grand Prix had he not been blocked by traffic on his final lap

The Honda rider will start second to Valentino Rossi at Donington Park, having lapped just 0.095 seconds down on the championship leader - time he felt he lost when he encountered slower riders.

"At the end on the last tyre I was not fully concentrated," said Pedrosa. "I had some riders in front and I lost a bit of concentration."

But Pedrosa does not think starting second will be a great disadvantage.

"Still it's the front row, so this is more important than pole position," he said. "We did a good job in practice, so we just have to check how everything is and improve it a little bit more."

Forecasts for the rest of the weekend predict changeable weather on race day, and Pedrosa admitted that this was a concern.

"Tomorrow's race can have changing weather, or maybe it will be good, so we will try to set up for each condition," he said. "If it's raining I'd like to improve my riding. I hope we can do a good race."
