Pedrosa: Fitness promising so far
Dani Pedrosa said his fitness was better than he expected after securing third on the Portuguese Grand Prix grid, making him the fastest of the three factory Honda riders in qualifying
The Spaniard has undergone surgery in recent weeks to remove a plate from his collarbone after issues with a loss of feeling in his arms during races.
Though he is still healing after the operation, Pedrosa said so far this weekend he had been pleased with how he was coping - although he admitted that the real test would come in tomorrow's race.
"Actually I think the physical condition is pretty much improved," he said.
"I have a little bit of healing. Until I do the full distance I will not be sure. But I'm quite happy right now.
"There is some pain around the shoulder, but this is quite normal. I'm sure I will have some problems and not be 100 per cent but I will try my best."
Pedrosa added that Honda was still not where it wanted to be in pace terms, but was not concerned as he suspects changing weather could be the main factors in today's race.
"We're just trying to improve a little bit more, trying to be quicker," he said.
"We have to wait for the weather to see what kind of race we will have, and just try to be focused."
