Lorenzo: Yamaha first choice for 2010

Repsol is believed to have approached Lorenzo as a potential replacement for Dani Pedrosa, who has been the Spanish oil giant's MotoGP title hope for three seasons but has yet to deliver a championship.

But Lorenzo said his priority was to remain at Yamaha, and that he was already in talks with the company's racing boss Lin Jarvis.

"I met with Lin Jarvis yesterday," said the Jerez pole-sitter. "I'm in a good place, though. The first idea is for me to continue (with Yamaha)."

Pedrosa declined to comment on his own future, saying only that "there may be other makes" should he ever part company with Honda.

While suggesting he was content to stay at Yamaha, Lorenzo added that he was pleased by the interest in him after his very strong start to 2009.

"When you are fast everyone wants you," he said, "when you are not fast then no one wants you."

Repsol Honda could potentially offer Lorenzo a substantial salary increase in order to entice him away from Yamaha.

Although happy at his current team, Lorenzo would not have undisputed number one status at Yamaha all the time he was riding alongside Valentino Rossi, who is currently signed with the Japanese manufacturer through 2010.
