Grapevine: Gordon Murray visits MotoGP event
Former Formula One designer Gordon Murray is at the Jerez MotoGP this weekend for his annual trip to see a MotoGP race
Normally present at Estoril, the tall South African found that this was the only weekend he and some friends could make in his busy schedule of building his new T25 revolutionary city car.
"I never miss watching a MotoGP at all," he said. "I didn't watch the first two F1 races of the year as I forgot that the first one was on and during the second one I was in Scotland.
"I always come to one race a year and I couldn't turn this opportunity down. I will be up and inside the track early to feel the whole Jerez experience. I only need four hours sleep a night so I won't be late."
Murray is currently busy with his city car, which will have a 59kg three-cylinder aluminium die-cast engine with exceptionally low running costs.
And, amid cheeky suggestions that the lightweight car could even be flat packed, Murray said that there is a real possibility that the car could be.
"You will be able to build that car within two and a half hours," he said.
