Downpour delays practice at Misano

Practice at Misano has been delayed after a huge downpour hit the track earlier this morning

The circuit had been wet for all three categories' opening sessions, but the rain then increased dramatically after 250cc practice, leaving Misano awash.

Although conditions have now eased, several parts of the track are underwater. The course cars have been circulating to evaluate conditions, but have been axle-deep in water in the flooded sections.

Water was also cascading down the pit lane and into the teams' garages when the rain was at its worst.

There is no indication of how the rain delay will impact on the schedule, which already featured additional practice time for the riders and teams to acclimatise to the new track.

The next scheduled session is first qualifying for the 125cc series, which had been due to commence at 13.05 local time. But although course workers are now endeavouring to clear the wettest areas, it will still be some time before the water subsides sufficiently for practice to resume.
