Dovizioso fired up for Honda challenge
Andrea Dovizioso is looking forward to the challenge of working with the works Honda team, although he is aware that it will not be an easy job
"Developing a bike while riding quick is very difficult. I've never had the chance to do this kind of job up to now, but I feel motivated," Dovizioso told Motosprint.
"I only need to understand how the team will be organised and the way Honda works."
The Italian, currently riding for the JiR Scot satellite team, will join Dani Pedrosa at Repsol Honda next year after a promising rookie season in 2008.
Dovizioso is optimistic he will get a strong bike, but he reckons consistency will be the most important factor to be able to go quicker.
"I expect a competitive bike, even though it's perhaps not the absolute best at the moment," he added. "I expect a bike that is not too different from the one I have, but I think that with that bike you can go not only quicker, but also with better consistency. And if you're consistent, you can go even quicker.
"The real difference in a works team is in the material at your disposal and the chance to obtain what you need. Basically you can ask.
"But you need to build up a good feeling with the technicians: you need to make them understand what you need, and they need to be good at understanding your needs and react as soon as possible. That's the real difference. And that's the kind of work that allows you to win."
