Dorna boss promises to help Roberts

Dorna chairman Carmelo Ezpeleta has vowed to try to keep Team Roberts on the MotoGP grid this season

Kenny Roberts Sr has made no secret of the financial struggles he has faced over the winter, but Ezpeleta told Italian magazine Motosprint that the organising body are doing their best for all of the MotoGP teams.

"We'll do everything possible to help Team Roberts," he said, "because I can't stand the idea of them having to leave the scene.

"We need to intervene immediately, so that the problem doesn't get worse in the future."

Ezpeleta said that it was crucial for Dorna to help the teams, as the health of the championship is dependant on a strong number of entries.

He also explained that the teams were getting an increased percentage of money for this season.

"Dorna is allocating a lot more money than in the past," he said. "It is now over 50 percent of Dorna's entire turnover in motorcycling, and it's a higher percentage compared to every form of motorsport in Europe."

The amount of money going to the teams has steadily increased in recent years, and Ezpeleta is confident about the future of the teams in the championship.

"I think the situation will get solved," he said. "Some teams might change, someone might leave and someone might enter, but it won't be a revolution.

"It's important that the people who have worked with us until now stay."
