Capirossi linked to Tech 3

Tech 3 Yamaha boss Herve Poncharal says Loris Capirossi is among the riders involved in discussions with his team as Yamaha prepares to shuffle its line-up to fill Valentino Rossi's vacant seat while the champion recovers from his broken leg

Yamaha will only run one works bike for Jorge Lorenzo until Catalunya, when current Tech 3 rider Colin Edwards is strongly tipped to return to the factory line-up as Rossi's substitute.

That will leave a vacancy alongside Ben Spies at Tech 3, and Poncharal confirmed reports in the Italian press that Capirossi's manager Carlo Pernat has pushed for his rider - who is currently having a very tough season at Suzuki - to make a three-race move to Tech 3 before a full-time 2011 deal.

"Yes, I've spoken with Pernat," Poncharal told Gazzetta dello Sport. "I like Capirossi, it wouldn't be a problem for me, but it's up to Yamaha."

Moto2 rider and former Gresini Honda MotoGP man Alex de Angelis has also been linked to a temporary Tech 3 seat. Yamaha World Superbike rider Cal Crutchlow has already turned down an offer to move into MotoGP with Tech 3 as part of the rider moves to cover Rossi's lay-off.
