Aspar says MotoGP deal not done yet
Jorge Martinez 'Aspar' says his team have yet to finalise a deal with a manufacturer to run a MotoGP team in 2008
Aspar are currently leading the 125cc standings with Hector Faubel and challenging for the 250cc title with Alex de Angelis, and have been strongly linked to a deal to run a satellite Suzuki in MotoGP next season, and a two-bike team the year after.
But the team boss told told the official MotoGP website that they were still some way from completing an agreement with a manufacturer, and that Yamaha were an option as well as Suzuki.
"We continue to talk with Suzuki and Yamaha, running over several different options for a move up to MotoGP," Aspar said.
"Right now things are still unclear; we haven't defined anything as such."
Aspar said that the rest of the programme would not fall into place until a deal with a manufacturer was confirmed.
"We have been talking with various riders and getting to know the technical requirements, but the key thing will be confirming which bike we run - something that he don't know at this point," he said.
