Colin Edwards fit enough for Catalunya MotoGP return
Colin Edwards says he is excited about his MotoGP comeback at the Catalunya Grand Prix, even if he is "probably not 100 per cent yet", as his Forward Racing team confirmed he would be fit to race this weekend
The Texan, competing in the CRT class with Forward's Suter-BMW, was forced to sit out the last round at Le Mans after breaking his left collarbone in a crash caused when Randy de Puniet fell and slid into him at Estoril.
Edwards confirmed he had the staples from his collarbone removed last week and now has full mobility, but admitted he is not yet at full fitness.
"I'm excited to come back, I'm probably not 100 per cent yet," Edwards said. "I was actually thinking of riding here at the boot camp this past weekend but decided to give it a rest for a few more days.
"I got the staples taken out last week. I've been swimming a lot these last few days and it feels good, I have full movement and it doesn't hurt.
"I would say I'm at about 90 per cent right now. Looking forward to this weekend."
Edwards' Forward Racing squad reported that his main objective would be to continue to develop the new electronics which Chris Vermeulen was tasked with testing during his stand-in weekend at Le Mans.
