Dani Pedrosa will return to Honda MotoGP team for Le Mans race

Dani Pedrosa will return to the MotoGP grid this weekend at Le Mans, his Honda team has confirmed

Having suffered a reoccurrence of his 2014 arm pump problems during Qatar's 2015 season opener, the Spaniard underwent "aggressive" arm surgery last month.

He missed the races in America and Argentina, and his first home event of the year at Jerez, but has now recovered sufficiently to contest the French Grand Prix.

"I've been doing a lot of therapy in the past few weeks since the operation and I am improving step by step," Pedrosa, who won the Le Mans race in 2013, said.

"I'm beginning to feel stronger and looking forward to getting back on the bike - after all, this is the best way to check the feeling after all the rehabilitation work.

"It will be good to get back to my team and catch up with them all after this time and of course to see all the fans in Le Mans."

Team-mate and reigning world champion Marc Marquez suffered an injury of his own before Jerez, fracturing a finger when it was run over in a training crash.

Marquez raced and finished second to Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo and has focused on recovery, rather than training, between rounds.

"Since Jerez we've been able to rest and now I'm feeling much stronger for this weekend," he said.

"I visited Dr Mir for a check up and my finger is definitely improving and healing well.

"I haven't trained much this past week in order to give my finger a chance to restore back to 100 per cent, which was our main goal."
