Alvaro Bautista will be fit for Assen MotoGP race

Alvaro Bautista will be fit to contest this weekend's Assen MotoGP race despite having to withdraw from last week's Barcelona test due to pain from a crash

The Gresini rider had a violent high-side during Q2 at the Catalunya Grand Prix.

Although he rejoined later in the session and subsequent medical checks revealed no broken bones, he only completed 24 laps in the post-race test due to pain from chest and ankle bruising.

He had been an early retirement from the grand prix when his engine cut out.

"During Barcelona qualifying I had a big crash, but fortunately nothing is broken, so I will be fully fit for the Assen race weekend," he said.

"Unfortunately I was still sore from the fall [on the test day], so I couldn't do a lot of work on the bike set-up, but we remain confident."

Of the other injury doubts after Barcelona, Nicky Hayden has confirmed that he will race at Assen for Aspar, having assessed his fitness over the Spanish weekend following recent wrist surgery.

Ioda is yet to announce if Danilo Petrucci will be ready to race in the Netherlands.

The Italian suffered arm injuries in a Jerez warm-up crash in May, and has had to make a last-minute withdrawal from the last two MotoGP rounds at Mugello and Barcelona after his initial hopes of being fit enough were dashed. Michel Fabrizio stood in on both occasions.
