125cc: Smith retains pole in Qatar

Bradley Smith retained his pole position for tomorrow's 125cc Qatar Grand Prix by improving over the provisional pole time he set yesterday

However, soon after the Briton set his best time of 2:05.242, he suffered a high side crash with his Aprilia with just a couple of minutes remaining.

Hungary's Gabor Talmacsi qualified second with his Aprilia, 66 thousandths of a second down on Smith. Third spot will be occupied by Mike di Meglio on Derbi.

Scott Redding and Danny Webb on Aprilia made it three Britons in the top five, ahead of KTM's Raffaele de Rosa in sixth and Aprilia's Sergio Gadea in seventh.

Derbi's Joan Olive, Aprilia's Simone Corsi - who had a crash by losing the front with 18 minutes to go in the session - and KTM's Esteve Rabat round up the top ten.
