125cc: Smith beats Webb to provisional pole
Britons finished first and second for the opening round of the 125cc season in Qatar today, with Bradley Smith taking provisional pole, three tenths ahead of Danny Webb
Smith, 17, held the top spot for most of the session on his Aprilia, while 16-year-old Webb shot up from sixth to second with his best lap set in the final two minutes.
Mike di Meglio was the only other rider inside the 2:06 mark, snatching third on the grid with the last lap of the session.
Simone Corsi had held second place throughout much of the session, but was pushed down to fourth in the closing minutes, ahead of Raffaele de Rosa and Sandro Cortese.
