125cc: Talmacsi takes provisional pole

Gabor Talmacsi beat Mattia Pasini to provisional pole position for the Sachsenring round of the 125cc series

The Hungarian was on top of the timesheets from early in the session, but was briefly usurped by Pasini - winner of the last two races - in the closing minutes.

But Talmacsi immediately responded with a 1:26.930 lap, and ultimately beat Pasini by half a second.

Sandro Cortese took a popular third on home ground, ahead of Sergio Gadea.

Talmacsi's title rival Hector Faubel, who is currently seven points clear of his Aspar teammate in the standings, could only manage fifth.

Lukas Pesek completed the top six, with Bradley Smith seventh on his return after missing the Assen race due to injury.

Istanbul winner Simone Corsi was the most notable of several drivers who fell during the session. The Italian managed to rejoin after his low-side and bring his damaged bike back to the pits, and eventually moved up to 12th place.
