Moto2: Aoyama leads KTM 1-2 in qualifying

Red Bull KTM's Hiroshi Aoyama stole pole position from his teammate Mika Kallio at the end of today's qualifying session for tomorrow's Malaysian 250cc race at Sepang to secure a Red Bull KTM 1-2 on the grid

Kallio looked to have fought off all challengers with a succession of fast laps near the end of the session. But a final effort by his teammate Aoyama bumped him from pole by 32 thousandths of a second after the chequered flag had been waved.

Jorge Lorenzo was unable to find enough speed to take his usual pole position, third on the grid but less than two tenths slower than Kallio. Alongside him on the front row is championship 'rival' Andrea Dovizioso, less than a quarter of a second slower than Aoyama.

Alvaro Bautista completes the top five, one of the five riders who could've taken pole position. Behind him there was a small gap to Thomas Luthi and Hector Barbera, before another gap to Julian Simon, Alex de Angelis and Roberto Locatelli to complete the top ten.
