Panther, Vision plan extra Indy car
Panther Racing and Vision Racing are set to field an extra car each in this year's Indy 500 after submitting entries for the IRL's showpiece event
Former series champions Panther have entered an additional Dallara as a teammate to Vitor Meira, and Vision are set to expand to a three-car team in addition to Tomas Scheckter and Ed Carpenter.
Penske Racing have also entered a third car, although that is normal for them. They have not specified which type of chassis they are going to use for the third car, giving them their usual options for the month of May.
Chip Ganassi Racing have also entered a third car, but instead of their normal Dallara oval chassis, the third car is a Panoz chassis and, like Penske, giving them the option of changing chassis if desired.
AJ Foyt Enterprises has also entered a car for NASCAR driver Larry Foyt, who finished last in the Indy 500 in 2005 after an early accident.
Entries must be postmarked by midnight on April 6, so the final entry list is expected to be confirmed in coming days.
