Filipe Albuquerque leads final practice session for Daytona 24 Hours

Filipe Albuquerque topped the times in final practice for this weekend's Daytona 24 Hours in the Action Express Racing Cadillac that failed to register a lap in qualifying

Filipe Albuquerque leads final practice session for Daytona 24 Hours

Albuquerque ended up on a 1m34.358s in the #5 Cadillac DPi.V-R in the 60-minute session, which put him exactly four-tenths clear of Olivier Pla in the fastest of the two Mazda RT24-Ps.

The time from Albuquerque would have been good enough to put the Action Express car fifth on the grid for the opening round of the IMSA Sportscar Championship.

Albuquerque, who shares the car with Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi, didn't set a qualifying time on Thursday after encountering an undisclosed technical problem on his out lap.

The team has already been reduced to a three-driver line-up in the wake of Mike Conway encountering travel problems.

Third in the final session was the second Action Express Daytona Prototype international in which Pipo Derani set a 1m35.087s

Simon Pagenaud was fourth in the best of the Penske Racing Acura ARX-05s, while the Mazda that Oliver Jarvis qualified on poled ended up fifth in Rene Rast's hands.

Fastest in the LMP2 pro-am class was the PR1/Mathiasen ORECA-Gibson 07 with Enzo Guibbert driving.

Frederic Makowiecki was fastest in GT Le Mans class aboard the factory CORE-run Porsche 911 RSR that Nick Tandy put on the class pole.

The Frenchman posted a 1m42.478s at the end of session to move ahead of the Ganassi Ford GT in which Dirk Muller had topped the times with a 1m42.612s.

Jan Magnussen was third in the best of the Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs just ahead of Richard Westbrook in the second of the Fords.

Quickest in GT Daytona was Pedro Lamy in the Spirit of Race Ferrari 488 GT3.
