Reiter to miss Zandvoort FIA GT round
FIA GT Series frontrunner Lamborghini Blancpain Reiter will miss this weekend's round at Zandvoort
The German team, which won the main event at the previous round of the series at Zolder in April, has yet to comment on its absence of its solo Lambo Gallardo LP560-4 driven by Peter Kox and Stefan Rosina.
The withdrawal follows the death of Italian amateur driver Andrea Mame in the Blancpain Lamborghini Super Trofeo race at Paul Ricard last Sunday. The Reiter squad also withdrew from the Blancpain Endurance Series round at Ricard that afternoon.
Reiter is expected to resume its multiple programmes after this weekend. Its next scheduled appearance is at the European Le Mans Series round at the Red Bull Ring on July 20 under the Kox Racing banner.
A total of 21 cars are entered for Zandvoort. They include a solo BMW Z4 from the Vita4One Racing squad, whose plans to contest the full series this year failed to come together.
Drivers have yet to be nominated for the car from the runner-up in last year's FIA GT1 World Championship, the forerunner of the sprint series.
The Portuguese Rodrive squad will field only one car after swapping from the Ford GT to the Lamborghini Gallardo.
The Dutch V8 Racing team, a regular in the International GT Open series, is taking part in the event on a race-by-race entry with a Chevrolet Corvette Z06 to be driven by local drive Duncan Huisman and Max Braams.
