Pole man warns of Easter traffic jam

Tom Kristensen, the polesitter for Saturday's European Le Mans Series, has warned that slower traffic could cause major problems on the fast sweeps of Donington Park

The Dane spoke out after sealing pole for Audi in the opening round of the championship.

"It's very easy to misunderstand the intentions of slower cars when we come to lap them," he said. "The GT cars especially are on the limit through the kinks which we can take flat-out. We have options to pass them, but it's not easy around here. If you get stuck behind a car on the Craner Curves it's possible you won't be able to pass until the exit of McLeans."

The two and three quarter hour race means lapping slower cars will be a common occurrence on Saturday, and GT category pole man Fredrik Ekblom agreed with Kristensen's sentiments.

"We can't get out of the way of the faster cars because we are so loaded up in the corners," he said. "If they're not patient, then there will be contact...and that would be bad."
