Le Mans winners to race in ALMS

The winning teams from the Le Mans 24 Hour race will contest the next round of the American Le Mans Series

The Schnitzer BMW team, which took overall victory at La Sarthe with Jo Winkelhock, Yannick Dalmas and Pierluigi Martini, will enter the race at Mosport Park on June 27th. No drivers have been announced yet. Sebring winners JJ Lehto, Tom Kristensen and Jorg Muller are the other three BMW contracted drivers.

The Rafanelli R&S-Judd, which won the last ALMS round at Road Atlanta, is likely to provide their main opposition.

Le Mans GTS winners ORECA Team Viper will also be at Mosport, making their ALMS debut with a pair of the FIA GT Championship leading Chrysler Vipers. FIA GT2 champion Olivier Beretta is confirmed as one of the drivers, as well as ex-F1 driver Karl Wendlinger and American David Donohue.

Another welcome addition to the ALMS entry at Mosport is former CART champion Danny Sullivan. He will be making his comeback in the Multimatic Lola alongside Scott Maxwell. Sullivan has only raced occasionally since breaking his pelvis in the 1995 Michigan 500 while driving for the PacWest Champ Car team.
