JRM to field Nissan GT-Rs in Blancpain Endurance Series
The British JRM Racing squad will field two Nissan GT-Rs in the 2013 Blancpain Endurance Series
JRM, which last year competed in the World Endurance Championship with an HPD ARX-03a LMP1, is entering the Blancpain to showcase the 2013-specification Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3, which it has jointly developed with Nissan motorsport arm NISMO.
The plan is to field one car in the Pro category and one in the Pro-Am division of the five-round series, which includes the Spa 24 Hours.
JRM boss James Rumsey, whose team won the 2011 FIA GT1 World Championship with Nissan, said: "The Blancpain Endurance Series makes good business sense. We need to prove the capabilities of the car now that it has had a major upgrade and show that it is the most cost-effective GT3 car out there.
"We have one clear aim: to ensure we have a competitive customer package that is continuously developed.
Rumsey stressed that the Blancpain programme wasn't in place of a continued presence in P1, which had looked like being a Le Mans-only programme in 2013.
"It wasn't a case of we're not doing P1, so let's do the Blancpain," he said. "It wasn't either or.
"It wasn't possible to find the finance for P1 once we'd made the decision that the programme had to be commercially driven."
JRM expects to announce drivers for its pair of cars within the next two weeks. The Pro car will have a line-up of all platinum-rated drivers, according to Rumsey.
JRM has yet to reveal how many new GT3s it has sold for 2013, but Rumsey explained that the organisation was building nine cars for the coming season.
