Padmore looks up the inside as both go sideways through the opening lap, and Padmore gets his lead back through St Mary's.
And we're off! The sun is poking out as Padmore defends his lead but Mike Whitaker puts his Lola T70 in first through Turn 1.
The Whitsun Trophy formation lap is up and away at Goodwood Revival. Padmore leads the way.
Nick Padmore will start on pole. Padmore holds the fastest lap record for this race at Goodwood.
On the front row for this slippery Whitsun Trophy race will be Mike Whitaker and Chris Ward as the rain beats down.
Mike Jordan was due to start on pole for the Whitsun Trophy, but his owner has pulled the car due to unforeseen circumstances. A shame, as Jordan's qualifying lap on Friday was a special one - one of his best efforts.
Up next is the Whitsun Trophy: 25 minutes of racing for unlimited sports prototypes from 1963-66 including the Ford GT40, Lola T70 and McLaren-Chevrolet M1A.
The chequered flag has been flown for the 1957 British GP recreation.
There's also a Connaught B-Type out on track, in which Tony Brooks won the 1955 non-championship Syracuse GP race.

We're about to be treated to a recreation of the 1957 British GP. Another brilliant car in this celebration is the Lancia-Ferrari D50A with its side-mounted fuel cells for better weight distribution and balance. This particular one is a recreation itself of the one driven by Fangio in 1956, when he won the drivers' championship.
The Vanwall which Moss and Brooks drove in the 1958 season will be present, as will the 1957 Vanwall which became the first British Formula One car to win the manufacturers' championship.
This parade will celebrate the season in which Juan Manuel Fangio took his fifth title. That year's British GP at Aintree had Stirling Moss lead from pole but slow as his Vanwall misfired. Tony Brooks pitted and gave Moss his seat - Moss came from ninth to win.

Winner Michael Gans:

"It certainly was [my first win]. It was exceedingly slippery and this car does not do well when it's slippery."
Calum Lockie on his fifth successive podium:

"Really frustrating with a great first lap...but then we had an engine issue, it just kept cutting on the straight. I wasn't sure if I was third or fourth but I'd overtaken someone on that final lap so P3. I thought I'd spun five or six times!"

David Morris after taking his ERA to second:

"It got pretty slippery towards the end, it's just a case of keeping it tidy and not trying to fall off. I think there was oil on track, it was quite slippery on the warm up lap."
Well, after the top three all faltered, Michael Gans takes victory in his ERA while 2013 winner David Morris settles for second in the Goodwood Trophy. Calum Lockie, who started third, finishes third having recovered from an early issue in his Maserati. A really gripping and incident-filled race - the rain didn't make it any easier, clearly.
Gans lost some time in the lead and David Morris is going to take his chance for the lead with one lap remaining.
Third place goes to Lockie as Burnett can't wrestle his car through Madgwick and takes a trip through the grass.
Michael Gans is skating away in the rain with two minutes remaining.
And indeed, Morris takes second as Calum Lockie closes in on Gareth Burnett for third.
David Morris is now in third but second looks likely in his ERA.
Third place Nicholas Topliss spins as the rain is upsetting these cars massively.
10 minutes remaining and the leader has blue smoke coming out of his Alta engine. Rain is going to add even more uncertainty to the outcome of this race.
The Alta will be chased by three ERAs and the Maserati Tipo driven by Calum Lockie, who started on the front row and will be looking to recover as he slowed earlier. Lockie won this race last year.
The leading car is an Alta Single Seater. Alta's designer was Geoffrey Taylor and the car was built to be light. It's still one of the lightest cars in this race, with a four-speed gearbox on a 2 litre engine. This particular Alta has a history of unreliability.
And we have a Safety Car owing to that earlier chaos.
Gareth Burnett leads in the Alta, which had some problems sitting on the grid but inexplicably sits out in front as the top three dropped down the order.
Lockie is in trouble. Lockie pulls up from second, then Dowling and Gillies both have problems and collide!
Heinz Bachmann spins his ERA from fourth place. Wheel-to-wheel for the lead in a three-way battle.
After a few delays, we're off for the first Goodwood Trophy race of the weekend. Dowling leads Gillies and Lockie through Turn 1.
Paddins Dowling starts on pole for this one, with Mark Gillies and Calum Lockie joining him on the front row.

GP cars from 1930-50 race in this 20 minute race, the first of this weekend's Goodwood Trophy. The ERA R5B Remus, with Paddins Dowling at the wheel, has apparently raced in every year since it was built, in 1936.
