Wilson: break has helped team
Justin Wilson believes that the six-week gap between Champ Car races has benefited his RSPORTS team
The British driver is eighth in the standings after the first three rounds of the year, but he is expecting to be stronger when the field returns to racing this weekend at Portland.
"It has been beneficial to have this break since Houston," said Wilson. "I feel that we have made some good progress and I think that we are in a good position to achieve better results."
Wilson has been strong at Portland in recent years, and he is optimistic that he can improve on the results he has had so far this season, which include a fourth place at Long Beach.
"We have had the chance to get in some very valuable testing time to continue our learning process on the new DP01 car," he said.
Wilson's teammate Alex Tagliani agreed that the team have made progress in the long break, but he added that he was keen to get back to racing.
"The team has really gelled together since the first three races," he said. "We made some great progress during our test at Mont-Tremblant, and we hope that Portland will be the start of a summer full of great results."
