Weekend review and results round-up

Lewis Hamilton re-took the lead of the Formula 1 title race with a brilliant win in mixed conditions at Spa. Mark Webber was the only other driver in the top five to score points, in second place. Sebastian Vettel and Jenson Button failed to score after the Red Bull driver lost control of his car and wiped out the McLaren. Fernando Alonso also had a day to forget; he was hit by Rubens Barrichello on the first lap and then crashed out himself with four laps to go. Robert Kubica completed the podium for Renault, ahead of Felipe Massa

Dario Franchitti closed the gap on IndyCar championship leader Will Power after taking a vital win at Chicagoland on Saturday night, while the Australian had a fuel problem with his Penske car and finished a lap down in 16th. Dan Wheldon had a great day for Panther Racing and ran Franchitti close for the win, while Marco Andretti was third - his third podium on an oval this year.

Dani Pedrosa scored his third MotoGP victory of the season at Indianapolis, but made little ground back on championship leader Jorge Lorenzo who finished third. Ben Spies thrilled his home crowd by converting pole position into a season's best second place finish .

Elsewhere, there was little change in the GP2 battle as Pastor Maldonado and Sergio Perez claimed a victory each at Spa, Maldonado holding onto a sizeable championship lead.

The CytoSport Porsche of Romain Dumas and Klaus Graf dominated the American Le Mans Series event as Mosport, though the race had to be stopped because of a damaged barrier after a crash by the GTC Orbit Porsche of Luke Hines following contact with Jonny Cocker's LMP1 Drayson Lola.

Darren Turner and Tomas Enge won both World GT1 races at the Nurburgring in their Aston Martin. Freddy Loix won the IRC event in the Czech Republic after home driver and long-time leader Jan Kopecky crashed on the final day.

Robert Wickens and Adrien Tambay took a GP3 win each in horrendous conditions at Spa, while Jean-Eric Vergne clinched his 13th victory of the British Formula 3 season at Snetterton. The second and third races of that event take place on Monday.
