Weekend review and result round-up

It was a relatively quiet weekend of motorsport ahead of the impending Formula 1 and World Rally Championship finales - but one that still saw several titles clinched and other championship battles take shape

Dario Franchitti had the most to celebrate, as he saved enough fuel to snatch Homestead victory from Ryan Briscoe and Scott Dixon and claim a second IndyCar title in the process.

His former Champ Car rival Gil de Ferran won his final race at Laguna Seca, but could not prevent Highcroft's David Brabham and Scott Sharp becoming American Le Mans Series LMP1 champions.

Jules Bianchi was the other champion crowned this weekend, clinching Formula 3 Euro Series glory with a superb victory on home ground at Dijon.

Timo Scheider could have wrapped up another DTM title at Dijon, but a disastrous qualifying for the German left the way clear for Gary Paffett to win and set up a showdown at Hockenheim. Things are looking closer in V8 Supercars too, with Will Davison boosting his title hopes by taking Bathurst 1000km victory alongside Garth Tander.
