Weber not pressuring Vietoris
Team Germany boss Willi Weber is not putting any pressure on A1GP rookie Christian Vietoris ahead of his debut for the team in Mexico this weekend
The 17-year-old will stand in for the dominant Nico Hulkenberg at Mexico City this weekend, but Weber is not expecting the teenager to match the recent results of his more experienced teammate.
The German team are leading the standings by 30 points ahead of New Zealand, and so far they are undefeated in 2007.
"Nico has scored double wins in all of the last three race weekends, but we cannot expect Christian to match this immediately," said Weber.
Vietoris has made a handful of appearances with the team in the Friday rookie sessions this season, and Weber believes that he is capable of performing well on his race debut.
"In the rookie sessions he has demonstrated that he knows how to handle the car, and we don't want to put him under pressure," he said.
"I wish him two good races, and I'm sure that he's going to represent the German colours well."
Formula BMW world champion Vietoris believes that the biggest challenge he will face during the weekend will be adapting to the long feature race.
"The two races will be a big challenge," he said. "In the main race I will have to drive at the limit for 70 minutes. I've never driven for such a long period."
Hulkenberg will return to race duties for the German team for the final two races, as the Chinese and British events do not clash with his F3 Euro Series commitments.
